Try to get someone to stand on the other side and coax her through with a treat. You stand on the side by her and show her the treat. Hold it to her nose so she will start to follow it if you pull it away. Go slowly and pass it through the doggy door to the person on the other side. It may help to have the other person hold the flap up the first time. That is probably the part she’s scared of.

Good luck.

get a bigger puppy door

Make sure the flap is not too heavy. Make sure the door is big enough.

Then, someone needs to be on the other side, open the flap, push her through, praise her and give treat.

Repeat as often as necessary to achieve full puppy doggie door use.

Coax her but don’t push her through. That will make it so she won’t like it at all.

It’s best if you have two people. One should be on one side of the door with a treat and one should be on the other side with the pup. You can push the door open a little bit and show her the treat. When she goes through, praise her like crazy. If you do that a few times, she will pick up on it and she should do it herself.

I start by teaching the dog to come in through the door, rather than out. I have found that most dogs are more eager to come in. :o)

I hold the flap open at first, and call the dog to me.

Once the dog is used to going through the door with the flap held open, I pick him up, and push him through a few times, until he is comfortable going through the door with the flap down.

Treats would not hurt with a puppy, either :o)

Sit outside the doggy door but leave puppy inside. Poke a treat through the doggy door but take it back fast enough that puppy follows it. Hold the door open and dangle the treat and then set it on the porch, once puppy gets outside, let him see you put food through the doggy door (holding the door open until he sees the food inside the door. Just pretend you are fishing.
If your doggy door is like mine, the magnet makes a clanking sound that may scare the pup. A little scotch tape across the bottom plate will quiet the door.

Stand on the other side and offer treats.
