My old doggy was feeling ill today, now she is curling up behind an armchair in a corner?

Our dog leah has left her beloved doggy bed and gone behind an arm chair which is in the corner of the room and flanked by to little tables. She walks into the corner by going under the tables. Shes fallen alseep there now.

I find this a little scary because i think i heard that dogs like to find a den when they are going to die!? She is old but i think she got in the trash and ate something very dissagreeable.

Anyway… why is she curling up in such a wierd place? Shes normally really attatched to her doggy bed and I dont understand why she isn’t taking comfort in it. Is she trying to tell us to leave her alone to get better?

She hasn’t eaten anything all day, shes only drunk a tiny bit. We tried giving her plain cooked rice with a little bit of gravy on it and she hate a tiny bit but then stopped.

Vets, vetrinary helpers… any answers for me?

Thankyou.

If you think it’s necessary, take her to an emergency veterinary clinic. Otherwise schedule and appointment with her vet as soon as possible. It’s worth getting this checked out.

You said that you thought she got into the trash…if you are concerned then you should take her in to the vet.

Take her to the vet, just in case.

You really need to get your dog to a vet. I work at a vets office and I have seen this many times. Please take her to your nearest vet and have them book you a sick appointment. Your dog sounds like he may be dehydrated and if he is old then please od not wait. I love animals and my heart goes out to them. Please do the right thing. If $ is an issue your vet will work out a payment plan or offer you something called carecredit. Please keep me posted to your pets condition . qmissy2000@yahoo.com

I’m not a vet but I have experience. i don’t want to make you sad but read knowing my heart is in it. Just 2 weeks ago my childhood pet died because of a tumor in his stomach. he was 13 when he died. He did real strange things weeks before his death. Sleeping in weird places, resorting back to puppy behaviors, He didn’t eat (he did have a tumor but he was old too ) he would drink water only. The vet said he didn’t have much time, gave him pain medicine, sent him home. he died that night the day before we had him scheduled to put him down. there might be something eternally wrong. She might be waiting it out, thinking she might feel better on her own. Or maybe if she has bone problems the other places might be cold, causing her pain. Not eating is not a good sign. Take her in, if there something wrong, she might be too old to heal on her own, she might need a little vet help. I wish you the best, and hope that everything will be okay and there is a more years in her doggy life.

CALL THE VET. Sorry, I didn’t mean to shout with the caps, but I want you to know that this could be serious. Five weeks ago today, a friend’s dog ingested something and he was not taken to the vet. Louis was dead within hours (I’m still very upset about this). If you really love your dog, then make the call — you’ll thank yourself (and so will the dog), and it’s always best to be safe now, instead of sorry later.

sometimes my dog hides in things kinda like dens when he did something he was not suppose to(poop in the house took the food off the table ect)Call your vet and ask what wrong and if you should take her in just in case!

Notice that everyone’s all like “Gawd, take the darm thing to the vet already!” And they really don’t deserve points for something clear?

Look, the dogs needs warm water, calcium, warm steamed rice, no dry dog food. Get some pedialyte or pediatric electrolyte and try getting her to drink some.

Until then, call a house appointment with a vet.(I can’t believe I just wrote that!)

I’m afraid you about to lose a good friend…give her lots of love

Take your old doggy to a vet immediately. She is not well. A Vet can diagnose what is wrong. Most Vets work 24/7. They care. I once had a kitten cat lying in her litter box when I came home at 1am. I called all the Vets in the yellow pages and got a guy who met me at his office at 2 am in the morning. Unfortunately, he could not save her. He was very gracious how he would take care of the body.
