How can I cut out a hole for a doggy door if a stud is in the way?
Where I want my doggy door to go has a stud directly in the center of it. What are my options if I cannot put it anywhere else?

hey mike. first you need to determine whether it’s a load bearing wall. you’ll have to take a look at the joists in your roof. if the wall you want to cut into spans the length of your joists, then it’s not load bearing. now if it’s and outside perimeter wall, you can bet it’s load bearing. you might have already determined whether it’s load bearing or not.
anyway if it’s load bearing, you still can remove the stud but you’ll have to construct some temporary supports and frame the opening of the new ‘doggy door’ in a different manner (like you do a exterior door or window.
if it’s load bearing and you want to still do this i suggest you research on how to frame a window or door in a load bearing wall. it’s not that hard, just has to be done a certain way. hope that helps any

dogie doors are ment to be on the bottom of a door, not through a studded wall.
you buy the kit.
Cut the stud and reframe. put 2 2×4’s on the side to height of your doggy door, than put a 4×4 across the top or 2 2×4″s nailed together for your header and you can nail stud you cut back to this. Dont worry about your roof falling when you cut stud it wont, as there are many more holding the roof up.
